Being black in Second Life was never a trend for me, and I too have experienced my fair share of racism, put-downs, and have been looked down upon like so many others, all because of the color of my avatar.
Being black on any platform means that I have to struggle just to find a place that I belong
I had to create a community where my own unique brand of black girl magic could shine. A place where I didn't have to be afraid of not being black enough for some and being too black for others.
Many times I find myself creating a world of my own, and marching to the beat of my own drums.
I never let others' words, stares, and or negativity get me down because I understand that everyone has an opinion and those opinions don't shape my reality.
Racism exists both in-world and in real life, and I am committed to fighting injustice in both worlds.
I stand with those that have felt stepped over, ashamed, and disrespected because of their avatar's color.
I stand against injustice, discrimination, and systemic oppression.
